These days, BLACKPINK Lisa‘s makeup is always on point. But when did her beauty journey start? What looks did she love when she was young? What are her favorite styles and products today? Lisa revealed all in a new interview with Vogue.
Like many people, Lisa says she first took an interest in makeup and fashion when she was a little girl—sort of. The BLACKPINK star was just four years old when she began training in dance, so it’s only natural she started looking into ways to stand out and be unique when she was young.
"Since I was a little girl, I have always been interested in makeup and fashion." - Lisa.
However, Lisa also revealed that she truly “fell in love with makeup” after she debuted with BLACKPINK. Becoming a K-Pop idol has given her a new appreciation for beauty, leading her to research and propose her own makeup looks to her stylists.
"When we release a new album or when I’m on set for a magazine, I enjoy suggesting a makeup look that I’ve always wanted to try."
While Lisa was only just appointed the Global Brand Ambassador of MAC Cosmetics, she confessed she’s been using the brand for a very long time. The first product she ever used from their collection was a lip product—unsurprising given her luscious lips. Now, she’s endorsing several items from the MAC Cosmetics Powder Kiss lip product line.
And over the years, she’s definitely learned what suits her best. Lisa says the dark coral lip color Mull It Over is her “all-time favorite” for everyday use, but she also loves the reddish-brown shade Make Love to the Camera because it’s “so good on [her] skin tone“. She revealed she enjoys creating natural and soft ombré lip looks by tapping lipstick into the center of her lips and blending it out.
"[I] love playing around with the countless number of colors and textures to choose from to help perfect my look."
One of the reasons MAC Cosmetics chose Lisa as the new face of the company is the confidence she has in her beauty and style, constantly bringing bold new looks to the table. In her interview, Lisa explained how she’s learned that “beauty is confidence“. While she’s always been interested in makeup, she also knows it’s not the be-all and end-all of looking gorgeous.
"I think beauty comes from one’s confident inner self and attitude. Makeup and styling are the cherries on top of your beautiful inner-self!"
And Lisa’s journey to self-confidence is reflected in her changing ambitions. When she was younger, she considered becoming a model. Given her natural beauty and incredible body proportions, she certainly would’ve been up to the job.
Now, however, Lisa says she’s more interested in being behind the camera rather than in front of it. Photography has been one of her passions for a while now, and her skills show she has a true understanding of all types of beauty.
Of course, while she’s amazing behind the camera, it would be a travesty if someone like Lisa didn’t live her life in front of it too. BLACKPINK Lisa To Be Global Ambassador For MAC Cosmetics!
After rumors and speculations that Lisa will be the newest global ambassador of the Canadian cosmetics brand, MAC Cosmetics, the company confirmed the news via its official site and social media platforms!
In their official SNS, MAC Cosmetics released a video clip featuring Lisa, along with the caption, "Wink, wink - It's Lisa from BLACKPINK! Take a sneak peek at some of the major surprises Lisa has in store for you this year as our new Global Brand Ambassador, " along with the hashtag, #MACLOVESLISA.
In addition to this, MAC Cosmetics also posted an official photo of the female idol wearing the company's beauty products, and indeed, Lisa is a real stunner with her fancy and elegant look, complementing her short hair!
According to MAC Cosmetics' Senior Vice President and Global Creative Director named Drew Elliot via Cosmopolitan, Lisa's exceptional talent, as well as fierce and trendy style, is truly a match for MAC.
