SHINee Taemin announced his enlistment on May 31 through a live broadcast communicating with fans on Naver V LIVE on April 19.
Taemin, who hosted the V LIVE titled 'Thanks for 13 Years', told his fans that he will join the army and said, "I feel like I have become a really special person... The solo album will come out on the 2nd or 3rd week of May and I will be able to show everyone the flashy / wonderful part of myself one more time, then from May 31st onwards I will be inactive for a while... "
The idol continued to express his emotion, "I don't want to spend the rest of the month being depressed... I've done one thing steadily since I was 13, so please pat me on the back and said I did a good job."
Taemin confessed to his fans that he wanted to tell them about his enlistment first. He also mentioned the things he wanted for the rest of the time before joining the military, and looked back on his past activities and comforted his fans.
Taemin applied to the military band and has received approval from the Military Manpower Administration. Since the SHINee maknae hopes to quietly enlist in the army, the specific location and time will not be revealed. Besides, other events will not be held on the day of the enlistment as Taemin's will.
In the meantime, the idol will release a solo album on the 2nd or 3rd week of May. His concert 'BEYOND LIVE-TAEMIN: N.G.D.A' (Beyond Live-Taemin: Never Gonna Dance Again) will be held on May 2 and serve as Taemin's last solo concert before his official enlistment.
