You just couldn't call yourself a Disney fan when you don't know Peter Pan. The classic movie will have a live-action version, and British actor Jude Law is in discussion for the role of Captain Hook, the villain who fights again Peter Pan.
David Lowery is on board to become the movie's director, along with Toby Halbrooks as the script co-writers and Jim Whitaker is producing.
Disney’s 1953 animated classic is still the most successful adaptation of the Peter Pan novel by J.M. Barrie. The movie tells the story of a boy who wouldn’t age and the children whom he whisks away to the magical world named Neverland.
Many other studios have made their own versions on the big and small screens, including Steven Spielberg’s “Hook” with Robin Williams and Joe Wright’s “Pan". However, both of the versions didn't reach the fan's expectations.
If the deal is finished, Law would be the next actor to follow Dustin Hoffman, Jason Isaacs and Garrett Hedlund to play the iconic pirate antagonists in retellings of the story.
According to the sources, the movie's release is expected to be theatrical, not on the Disney Plus streaming route.
Disney is coming off a very strong year of live-action adaptations with both “Aladdin” and “The Lion King” grossing $1 billion at the global. The live-action of "Aladdin" is said to shot the first shot for a sequel to the film.
Law is coming off of HBO’s “The New Pope.” He was also recently seen in Paramount’s “Rhythm Section.” The actor is such a hardworking bee to reprise his role of Dumbledore in the next part of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, alongside Eddie Redmayne.
