In celebration of her birthday (May 16), IU and her fanclub donated 51.6 million won each to Green Umbrella Child Fund and Walking With Us Children's Foundation, making it a total of 103.2 million won.
IU's agency, Edam Entertainment, announced on their official Instagram account on May 16 that the singer and her fanclub 'UAENA' has donated a total of 103.2M won to Green Umbrella Child Fund and Walking With Us Children's Foundation, saying "Today, IU's birthday, IU and UAENA shared warmth in the world."
"Social distancing is reducing the number of hands that reach to people who need help," they wrote. "We're always close, just like the names 'IU' and 'UAENA', which share the same meaning. Even in this remote period of time, we'll continue to do what's good."
IU literally deserves to be called the "donation queen". Just two days ago, IU also donated 10 million won to Gwacheon City to support low-income people suffering from COVID-19. Even before that, she had also donated 30 million won to Gwacheon City.
In addition, she donated 100 million won to the Green Umbrella Child Fund on May 5 - the South Korean Children's Day. She also donated 100 million won to Good Neighbors to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Her donation list is surely long.
