A fact to be told that almost every Disney cartoon has a fixed ending compared to the original. In reality, the familiar formula for Disney is a happy beginning and a dark, scary atmosphere at the end.
The Little Mermaid
The ending of The Little Mermaid had Ariel could have her voice back, Ursula was killed and the Neptune Triton turned his daughter into a human.
In fact, the real version of Hans Christian Andersen's ending was the mermaid sacrificed everything but she just received pain. Her prince misunderstood Ariel with another girl and married her. Poor Ariel finally drown herself into the ocean.
Mulan
In the story, Mulan was a girl disguised as a man to go the battle for 10 years. She got back home after the war but then realized that her father passed away, her mother remarried and she was forced to marry a wealthy man. Mulan didn't agree and then killed herself. That ending will definitely be one of the most dramatic Disney cartoons, maybe more than TV series.
Pocahontas
Pocahontas based on the real story about a sweet love between an Indian-American girl and a white man. The Disney version must be so thrilled and full of happiness, that must be what fans think of. However, Pocahontas actually hates John Smith because he lied too many times about what happened between them. She was also kidnapped for a year, changed her name to Rebecca, and brought everywhere like a tool, then got killed at 21 years old. Her tomb was also destroyed not so long after.
Hercules
Hercules described as a young and strong man, who always helps people to defeat villains like Hades. In the end, Hercules fell in love with a beautiful girl after rescuing her from the other side.
However, the original version based on a Greece myth with some troublesome plots. First, Zeus cheated on Hercules's mother and slept with her to have the baby. When Hercules was a young boy, he got on his temper and killed his own music teacher. After that, he got married to Megara but then went crazy and killed both his wife and kid. Hercules had a lots of marriages after that and even some male lovers.
