Ariana Grande to support small businesses and families amid coronavirus pandemic
Ariana Grande is to support charities helping hard-hit small businesses, people, and families get through the coronavirus pandemic.
As the virus has spread throughout the U.S., restrictions on hard-hit states, including California, New York, and Washington, has resulted in businesses closing and many casual workers potentially losing their livelihoods.
In response, Ariana announced on her Instagram Stories on Thursday (March 19, 2020) that she will be supporting several charities providing relief, and urged her fans to do the same.
“While we are social distancing and doing the best we can to protect one another,” she wrote. “My heart bleeds for the small businesses, individuals, and families affected by all of this.”
She then added that she will be supporting socially conscious investment organization, the Opportunity Fund’s small business relief efforts, the World Health Organization’s Solidarity Response Fund, the Feeding America charity, and Give Directly’s coronavirus emergency relief fund.
The 7 Rings hitmaker, who is of Italian heritage, will also donate to the Italian Red Cross, as the country has been the hardest hit by the pandemic outside China. By Friday, more than 41,000 people in Italy had contracted the virus, with more than 3,400 dying as hospitals struggled to cope with the surge in cases.
Ariana did not specify how much she plans to donate to each charity.
