According to multiple broadcasting officials on June 12, Seongri will appear as a contestant in the MBN's trot contest program 'Voice Trot', which is scheduled to air in July.
Seongri is known for participating in the Mnet's idol survival program 'Produce 101' Season 2, which aired in 2017. Since then, he has been a member of the project boy group RAINZ for about a year since October that year, and debuted as a solo singer with the mini album 'First Love' in April last year.
Seongri, who started anew as a solo ballad singer after working as the main vocalist of the boy group, will take on another challenge through 'Voice Trot', which has been gaining popularity in South Korea and Japan. This is the first time he challenges the trot genre, which is drawing attention from fans.
Earlier, Seongri has shown off his emotional and appealing voice through his album and famous OST for dramas such as 'Rude Miss Youngae', 'The Lady in Dignity', and 'Borg Mom'. It is said that Seongri is really excited to express the genre of trot, which contains the universal sentiment of Korea, with his own colors.
'Voice Trot' is a trot competition program for stars. The winner will receive a prize of 100 million won, plus a chance to release new songs and hold tour concerts in South Korea and abroad. The nation's leading trot singers, including Nam Jin, Hye Eun Yi, Kim Yeon Ja, Jin Sung and Park Hyun Bin, have decided to serve as judges, while broadcaster Kim Yong Man will host the show.
