BTS held the online concert 'BTS MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E' in Seoul on October 10 and 11. On each concert day, which lasted about 150 minutes, 23 songs of various genres were sung, including songs from their fourth full-length album 'MAP OF THE SOUL: 7', which were performed on stage for the first time, and the digital single 'Dynamite', which shines at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
Originally, the concert was scheduled to be held both online and offline, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was only conducted through live streaming. To soothe the disappointment of not being able to hold offline concerts, BTS introduced 'Army on Air', which allows them to listen to the voices of the audiences and see their faces in real time. The concert also simultaneously applied 4K/HD multi-views to live streaming performances for the first time in the world.
On a diverse setlist, four large stages were built to deliver the best quality performance of BTS. In addition, Big Hit Entertainment provided delay streaming (a full-day rerun streaming service) as well as live streaming so that more fans could enjoy the show. In Japan, various viewing environments have been set up, including live viewing in theaters.
"I'm happy to be able to see fans on screen like this," BTS said as the 'Army on Air' let them see fans across the globe on the screens. "It's been a while since we heard your voice, so we're energized. It's the prettiest sound in the world."
'BTS MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E' was a concert with a solid composition, delicate production and fresh planning as the one-year preparation period would tell, and above all, it was praised thanks to the best performances that proved BTS's seven-year growth.
"It was a performance with tens of thousands of emotions," BTS said, wrapping up 'BTS MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E'. "Our first march began with seven boys gathering together in a small dream. We will march together forever, singing different stories in different languages, waving numerous flags of different colors. Now it's not just seven people, it's you, me, and all of us."
