On Sunday, August 2 (or August 3 in South Korea), Big Hit On August 3 at midnight KST, Big Hit Entertainment officially released a new teaser for BTS’s highly-anticipated English-language single. The single, which the group has described as a “fun summer song,” is scheduled to drop on August 21, ahead of the release of BTS’s next album.

According to the colorful new teaser, the title of BTS’s upcoming single will be “Dynamite.”

No further details about the song were given, although the announcement tweet included the song’s name in a colorful, retro font against a millennial pink background. BTS’s official Twitter account soon updated their profile and header image to match the aesthetic of the new single.

Naturally, the announcement — which came without a countdown or warning — sent ARMYs into a frenzy. “A new era has begun,” one fan declared, with another predicting that “Dynamite” will become the song of the year.

News of BTS’s upcoming single first broke in late July, when the singers spilled some secrets about the track in a livestream shared with fans. The K-pop stars previously revealed that “Dynamite” is “upbeat and sung in English,” with a vibe that they described as “totally new and fresh.”

But this particular song has an even bigger meaning, as it will be released amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. “We needed a breakthrough during these unforeseen times, so we worked on this new song,” the septet revealed during their livestream on July 26. “This is a new challenge for us as well. When we first heard and recorded the song, we were energized and our spirits were lifted up. We can’t wait to share this song with you all and enjoy it together.”

So there you have it, ARMYs. Set your calendars and alarms for August 21 — if you can sleep at all, that is!
