Anne Hathaway found fame thanks to director Garry Marshall who cast her as the star of the 2001 film The Princess Diaries.
And Anne Hathaway is among the famous faces who pay tribute to the late film and television producer, writer and director in an ABC special Tuesday night.
The actress, 37, revealed how Marshall wasn't averse to including improvised or accidental moments in scenes in his finished projects, recalling how one unplanned funny moment ended up in the trailer for The Princess Diaries.
In a preview clip for The Happy Days Of Garry Marshall published online by TV Guide, Hathaway spoke about a scene she filmed with co-star Heather Matarazzo.
The scene took place on bleachers at a campus sports field on location in San Francisco and after rain delays, the crew were racing to complete the shoot before the light was lost.
Marshall directed Hathaway and Matarazzo to stand on different levels of the bleachers and to walk up and down past each other while doing the dialogue.
"I realized that we were going to be on the same step so I turned really fast and slipped on a puddle and just.... I mean I just fell, just absolutely fell... and burst out laughing and kept going with the scene."
Hathaway went on: "Never thought about it again and all of a sudden, like six months later, it's in the trailer."
