Michael Jackson's estate will donate a total of $300,000 to communities that have been effected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The co-executors of Michael Jackson's estate announced that the relief fund will be divided between three charities helping people through the pandemic based out of the United States.

A sum of $100,000 (£83,183) will be donated to Broadway Cares Emergency Assistance fund, non-profit musical charity MusiCares and Nevada-based foodbank Three Square.

“This virus strikes at the heart of the communities we are close to,” co-executors John Branca and John McClain wrote in a statement.

“We learned today that the legendary Manu Dibango passed away from the virus."

"Other performers and support staff in music and on Broadway are sick or have been left without work and are facing an uncertain future."

"And in Las Vegas, which has been so welcoming to Michael Jackson, the entire city has been shut down leaving thousands of workers and their families devastated and without an income.”

“Michael’s spirit of generosity and helping others during his lifetime is legendary. These donations are inspired by him,” the public statement concludes.

According to Variety, the generous donations will support people in the performing arts have access to emergency health care and financial assistance, as well as 300,000 meals in at the food bank.

As mentioned in the statement, the estate has decided to take action in supporting communities though the coronavirus outbreak following the tragic loss of Manu Dibango.

The Cameroonian saxophonist passed away on March 24 from coronavirus.

Michael Jackson had been inspired by the late musician, and adapted his song Soul Masakka into the 1982 Michael Jackson hit Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.

The Michael Jackson estate is one of a number of prominent organisations and celebrities that have announced that they would be donating large financial sums to support during the coronavirus outbreak.

Since the pandemic has continued to wreak havoc across communities worldwide, Ryan Reynolds and wife Blake Lively said they were donating $1 million to food banks during the pandemic.

On March 24, Arnold Schwarzenegger also revealed he was 'proud' to have donated an impressive $1million to the Frontline Responders Fund to medics working in hospitals.

According to CNN, as of March 26 there were 65,456 confirmed cases across the United States and 942 confirmed deaths in the United States.
