Mnet confirmed the news on January 29, saying, "BTOB, iKON and SF9's appearance in 'Kingdom' has been confirmed."
BTOB, iKON and SF9 will compete with Stray Kids, THE BOYZ and ATEEZ, who have previously confirmed their appearances. In the case of BTOB, four members (Seo Eun Kwang, Lee Changsub, Lee Minhyuk, Peniel) will appear, excluding Lim Hyun Sik and Yook Sung Jae, who are serving in the military.
Earlier, the list of boy groups offered to appear on 'Kingdom' was revealed on January 22, drawing keen attention. Among them, BTOB reportedly refused to participate in the show, but Cube Entertainment then said they were still reviewing the proposal, and now it's reported that they decided to appear after in-depth discussions.
Kingdom is a sequel to Mnet's 'Road to Kingdom', which aired last year. In 'Road to Kingdom', THE BOYZ won the final title and earned the right to appear in 'Kingdom', while Stray Kids and ATEEZ confirmed their appearance during the '2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards' ('2020 MAMA'). BTOB, Icon, and SF9 were announced to be considering their attendance, and now are finally listed, and many global fans are expected to pay attention to the huge competition of these popular boy groups.
Meanwhile, TVXQ has been selected as the MC of 'Kingdom'. It's scheduled to air in early April.
