A bus advertisement demanding the withdrawal of EXO Chen
, which was conducted in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, by some EXO-L (fans of EXO) was reportedly decided to be removed.
According to Ten Asia news reports, "the bus advertisement demanding Chen's withdrawal form EXO" was attached without prior consultation with the city government. Under the outdoor advertisement law, bus advertisements are classified as "advertisements using means of transportation" and can be posted only if they are authorized by the city hall or district office in advance.
However, the advertisement requesting Chen's removal from the group was carried out without the city government knowing its contents. Siheung City Hall said, "We have not received the draft of the advertisement and have never approved it,"
adding, "We found out that the contents of the unrecognized information were attached to the bus and notified the ad agency to put the advertisement down on the morning of the 16th."
On top of this, the city government is reviewing the law to determine whether the advertisement violates the outdoor advertisement law. According to the current law on managing outdoor advertisements and other public advertisements, it is impossible to install advertisements that may violate human rights. Some fans of EXO (lead by a group called EXO-L ACE Cafe) said earlier that they would launch a total of 5 bus ads in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, starting on March 16th demanding the withdrawal of EXO member Chen, who announced his marriage on January 13th. The ads included the words, "#There is no CHEN in the future we draw," and "We requires the expulsion of Chen, who has undermined the group's image and forsaken fans' faith." The advertisement was originally scheduled to be going aroung until April 16, after being attached to five buses on four routes linking Siheung and Ansan City. Siheung was EXO Chen's hometown and the majority of fans, including international fans of EXO, wer very angry with this action.
