Set in the 1990s, “The Worst of Evil” is a crime-action drama about an investigation launched to take down a major cartel based in Gangnam that is responsible for illegal drug trade between Korea, Japan, and China.

In the upcoming series, Ji Chang Wook will star as Park Joon Mo, a detective who undertakes the dangerous mission of going undercover to infiltrate the Gangnam Alliance and earn the trust of mob boss Jung Ki Chul, played by Wi Ha Joon. Jung Ki Chul is the ruthless leader of the Gangnam Alliance who will stop at nothing to achieve success. Their paths collide on the frontlines of a high-stakes operation, setting the stage for a heated showdown.

At the core of the drama is the intricate relationship between Park Joon Mo and Jung Ki Chul. After their intense initial encounter, Jung Ki Chul’s decision to accept Park Joon Mo into the Gangnam Alliance marks a dynamic shift in their relationship, oscillating between trust and suspicion. The addition of Im Se Mi, who will depict Yoo Eui Jung, an accomplished narcotics officer who is both Park Joon Mo’s wife and Jung Ki Chul’s first love, will further complicate the narrative and bring an engrossing and captivating storyline that will deeply engage viewers.

Director Han Dong Wook further emphasized the importance of Park Joon Mo and Jung Ki Chul’s dynamics, stating, “The key focus was the relationships between these characters. Even in action sequences, I aimed for the characters’ emotions to take precedence over technical stunts.”
