According to the media reports on July 5th KST, MBC has confirmed its upcoming drama series 'Dr.Lawyer' will premiere sometime in the first half of 2022 and So Ji Sub has been cast in the upcoming series as a male lead. Previously, it was reported So Ji Sub was offered the lead role of Han Yi Han.

'Dr.Lawyer' tells the story of the genius medical surgeon Han Yi Han, a genius surgeon who graduated from Korea's top medical school and has two specialists in general and cardiothoracic surgery. He lost his medical license and everything after a failed operation, caused by an unknown manipulation to his surgery. He then returns as an attorney who specializes in medical lawsuits and crosses paths with a medical crime prosecutor who lost a loved one in that failed operation, and the two join forces to punish those who manipulated that surgery to fail.
MBC commented, "'Dr. Lawyer' is expected to be a refreshing drama for the viewers as it has both medical and law drama features."
Since his last drama 'My Secret, Terrius' in 2018, 'Dr. Lawyer' would mark So Ji Sub's return as an actor for the first time since his 4 years-long hiatus.
The script for 'Dr. Lawyer' is written by Jang Hong Chul, who wrote the drama 'Class of Lies', receiving favorable reviews from viewers, showing incredible attraction and strong messages, and expectations are raising for his next work. In addition, director Lee Yong Suk, who has been loved by viewers through the dramas 'Haechi', 'The Village: Achiara's Secret', and 'Iljimae', is raising expectations further. Cellltrion Entertainment, which produced 'Beyond Evil', 'Memorials' and 'Vagabond', and Mong Jak So, which produced 'My Secret Terrius', joined hands to produce the new series.
Meanwhile, 'Dr. Lawyer', starting with So Ji Sub's casting confirmation, will complete the casting and production will begin in earnest with the goal of broadcasting a total of 16 episodes in the first half of 2022.
