On the morning March 5, a KBS official reveals that, "Ji Soo, who has recently been controversial, is getting off the drama ‘River Where The Moon Rises’. We are discussing countermeasures with our production company (Victory Contents)."
According to officials, it is impossible for the ‘River Where The Moon Rises’ team to review the entire drama and edit it. As a result, it is crucial to cast a new actor to replace 'Ondal', the character played by Ji Soo, and to conduct a re-shoot later. If the re-shoot is carried out, the ‘River Where The Moon Rises’ will suffer damage such as cost loss as it has already completed 90% of the filming. It is said that they have finished filming up to the 18th episode in a total of 20 episodes. After the first broadcast on January 15, six episodes were broadcast as of March 2. There are 14 episodes left on the show.
As a result, KBS, the production company and broadcaster, will suffer losses due to the cost regardless of whether they choose to edit the drama or retake it.
Ji Soo has been embroiled in a huge controversy on March 2 when several netizens on an online community said he was a perpetrator of school v.i.o.l.e.n.c.e. Later, on March 4, Ji Soo admitted to the "suspicion of school v.i.o.l.e.n.c.e" through his Instagram. Under such circumstances, the filming of the ‘River Where The Moon Rises’ was canceled, and the timing of the re-shoot is undecided. There will be no filming for a while.
At the same time, ‘River Where The Moon Rises’ ,which has even asked to "stop broadcasting" by many viewers due to the aftermath of Ji Soo's controversy, will not broadcast on March 8 and 9. The reruns (5th episode and 6th episode) scheduled for March 6 have been canceled. Also, there is no replay service on KBS.
