On June 9, JTBC News reported that according to an unnamed source, “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” writer Moon Ji Won had recently signed a contract with the drama’s production company, ASTORY, to pen a second season of the hit series.
While ASTORY previously shared their hopes to produce a second season of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” last year, nothing had ever been confirmed—until now.
In response to the report, ASTORY confirmed, “We signed a contract with Moon Ji Won last year for her to write ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo 2.'”
However, the production company revealed that due to prior commitments, Moon Ji Won will not be able to write the script for some time. At present, the writer is preparing to make her directorial debut with the film “Deaf Boys” (literal title), which is scheduled to begin filming in 2024.
“Because Moon Ji Won is currently busy with the preparations for her film, she will not be able to write the script right away,” explained ASTORY. “We think she will be able to start preparing the script in earnest after she wraps up her film at the beginning of next year.”
As for Season 2’s production schedule, ASTORY stated, “Because we are currently at the stage of internal development, nothing has yet been decided.” When asked about the return of leads Park Eun Bin and Kang Tae Oh, the latter of whom is currently serving in the military, the company responded, “The casting of the lead actors, including Park Eun Bin and Kang Tae Oh, has also not been decided yet.”
Earlier this year, “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” star Park Eun Bin won the Grand Prize at the Baeksang Arts Awards for her performance in the drama, while director Yoo In Shik won Best Director.
