One happy result of the increased diversification of fashion audiences over the last few seasons? Being able to catch a glimpse of one or more members of K-Pop supergroup BLACKPINK sitting front row during fashion week.
If their co-ordinated costumes for their high-energy performances are best described as “maximal”, Jennie, Rosé, Jisoo and Lisa use the front rows at fashion’s most illustrious brand presentations to debut more laid-back looks.
That’s not to say they don’t make an effort. You’ll find the girls wearing top-to-toe Chanel, Celine or Prada with a smattering of covetable accessories and an immaculately coiffed hairstyle. Each has their favorite house: Jennie regularly attends Chanel shows, and Lisa loves to see Hedi Slimane’s Celine collections during Paris Fashion Week, having dropped by at Prada in Milan last season, too.
Given the largely digital nature of spring/summer 2021 presentations, it might be a while before we catch these stars on an actual front row again. In the meantime, take a look back at some of the girls’ best fashion week appearances to date.
Jennie at Chanel SS19
Jennie attended the Chanel show at Paris’s Grand Palais wearing a classic pale blue tweed suit by the house. The look paired perfectly with Karl Lagerfeld’s scenic beach set and was completed with a matching Chanel handbag and a selection of mixed-metal Coco Crush rings.
Jennie at Chanel AW19
Just a few weeks on from the passing of Karl Lagerfeld, Jennie paid her respects to the designer at the autumn/winter 2019 show, wearing a simple chain-trim Chanel shift dress complete with a logo belt and chic black pumps.
Jennie at Chanel SS20
We loved this relaxed outfit that Jennie chose for her next visit to a Chanel show in October 2019. The slouchy cardigan and baggy jeans were pure comfort, while the sweet bow top and Chanel accessories played to her signature feminine style.
Lisa at Michael Kors Collection SS19
Lisa made the journey from her home in Seoul to attend the Michael Kors Collection spring/summer 2019 collection at New York Fashion Week. She chose a polka-dot dress and clashing floral print bag from the designer’s previous season.
Rosé & Jisoo at Coach SS19
It isn’t very often that we see the Blackpink members step out together at fashion shows, but Rosé and Jisoo made an exception for the Coach spring/summer 2019 fashion show. Together, they embraced Stuart Vevers’s love of prairie-style dressing, and took on NYC-glam with glossy blow dries.
Rosé at Saint Laurent SS20
In September 2019, Rosé turned heads when she arrived to sit front row at Saint Laurent’s spring/summer 2020 show in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. Her look comprised a sequin-choked take on the classic Le Smoking jacket for which the house is famed.
Jisoo at Burberry SS19
Jisoo brought some Blackpink magic to London Fashion Week when she stepped out in a checked suit for Riccardo Tisci’s spring/summer 2020 presentation.
Lisa at Celine menswear SS20
Lisa made her first appearance at a Celine show during the menswear collection presentations in June 2019, looking the part in an embellished jacket, jeans and over-the-knee boots, all by the French brand.
Lisa at Celine SS20
Lisa embraced Parisian style from top-to-toe once again when arriving at the Celine show in September 2019. She wore a form-fitting white top with an iridescent sparkling skirt and slouchy knee-high boots.
Lisa at Prada AW20
In arguably Blackpink’s most noteworthy front-row moment thus far, Lisa arrived at the Prada autumn/winter 2020 show in February wearing the standout look from the season prior – and made headlines in the process. After the show, she met with designer, Miuccia Prada, for a quick photo opportunity.
Rosé at Saint Laurent
Rosé arrived at the Saint Laurent show in February 2020 to further cement her growing relationship with the Parisian house and its creative director Anthony Vaccarello. We love how she paired these knee-high brown boots with black accessories and another take on the classic Le Smoking.
