The New York Times is a leading U.S. media outlet published in New York since 1851. They select their 'Best TV Shows' at the end of each year, and popular content from around the world is highlighted through the 'Best International Shows' category. The 10 films selected this year are 'Belgravia', 'The Bureau', 'For Sama', 'It's Okay to Not Be Okay', 'Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!' 'Kingdom', 'My Brilliant Friend', 'Patrya', 'Mystery Road' and 'Temple'.
The New York Times wrote about the drama, "The wizards of South Korean TV drama can play countless variations on the romantic comedy. This archly clever series about an imperious, emotionally challenged children’s book author and the impossibly noble health care worker she falls for mixes the rhythms of a sex farce with the ambience of a dark fairy tale. (Among other things, it’s a tart commentary on cancel culture.) Making it work is a mesmerizing performance by Seo Ye Ji as the writer, who’s both Cinderella and evil stepmother."
'It’s Okay To Not Be Okay' is produced by Studio Dragon, which produced tvN's drama 'Stranger'. The first season of 'Stranger' was also honored on New York Times’ 'Top 10 International Shows Of 2017'.
"I'm happy to receive good reviews from 'Stranger', which I was in charge of in 2017, and 'It’s Okay To Not Be Okay'," said Ji Jae Hyun, CP of Studio Dragon, who was in charge of the listed drama, adding, "I hope people around the world will have fun and comfort through this drama."
‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’ is a rather strange romantic comedy about a fairy tale-like love between Moon Kang Tae (played by Kim Soo Hyun), a mental ward guardian who refuses to love due to his heavy life, and a fairy tale writer, Ko Ye Young (played by Seo Ye Ji), who doesn't know love due to a natural defect, as they take care of each other's wounds.
