New movie 'The Box', starring EXO Chanyeol and Jo Dal Hwan, beat 'Minari' on its opening day to become No.1 at the box office.

According to the Korea Film Council's integrated network of movie tickets, the movie 'The Box' ranked first at the box office on March 24th, garnering 29,274 viewers on the first day of its release. The cumulative number of viewers gathered through pre-release previews is 31,905.

'The Box' depicts the miraculous busking journey of Jihoon (played by EXO Chanyeol), who can sing only when using a box, and Minsoo (played by Jo Dal Hwan), a producer of Formsa, whose success is the most important.

'Minari', which remained at the top for 21 days, fell to the 2nd place. On the same day, 'Minari' added 12,489 viewers to its cumulative 742,914 viewers. 'Minari' is a work about the settlement period of a Korean family who immigrated to the United States in the 1980s, and is expected to be nominated in 6 categories at the U.S. '93rd Academy Awards' next month.

Meanwhile, 'Sword of Destruction: Infinite Train' drew 11,613 people a day to rank third. The cumulative audience is 1,384,978.

The 4th place went to 'Hypnosis', which was released on the same day with 5,824 viewers.

'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' took the 5th place, followed by 'Wonder Woman 1984'.
