Justice League's Snyder Cut has a reported budget of $70 million with week-long reshoots planned for October with the principal cast.
Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League has a reported budget of $70 million. Snyder originally left the film after a family tragedy forced him to hand the reins over to Joss Whedon in 2017. The near-mythical Snyder Cut has consumed talk of the film ever since its premiere.
After rumors stoked by the stars themselves, fans finally got confirmation that not only did the Snyder Cut exist, but that they would actually get a chance to see it. Warner Media finally announced in May that the Snyder Cut would be coming to HBO Max in 2021 as a four-part limited series.
Initially, it was thought that Snyder would simply be working with what had already been shot, saying that none of what Whedon had filmed would be used. However, it was recently announced that Snyder would be doing reshoots in October.
Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, and Ray Fisher are all set to return as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg respectively. Snyder's vision was nearly fully realized when he left the project, but Whedon's take went in a different direction bringing a lighter tone to the film. Snyder is now looking to rectify that.
According to The Wrap, along with the announcement of reshoots, Snyder's reported budget for his vision is $70 million. The budget is sure to cover the cost of reshoots, as well as additional VFX work that needs to be done. Initial reporting said that no additional filming would occur, but that has changed with the announcement of this budget. Additionally, a lot of time and manpower will go into editing and creating the four-hour-long episodic cut, something that the new budget seemingly accounts for.

The $70 million price tag seems in line with what Snyder looks to be doing to fulfill his vision. Original estimates to complete the movie put the budget for the Snyder Cut around $30 million. However, it most certainly isn't cheap to bring together Affleck, Cavill, and Gadot again, especially in the middle of a pandemic, making $70 million a more logical number.
Although details around the reshoots are scarce, save for that they are most likely happening in early October, the operation is sure to be a complicated undertaking. Warner Bros. is taking the utmost precautions when it comes to filming in the middle of the coronavirus.
This news goes to show Warner Bros. and the cast's dedication to Snyder's vision. Several cast members advocated for the release of the Snyder cut prior to Warner Media's announcement that it would actually be released, so while surprising, it makes sense they would be willing to return for reshoots.
Giving the film a $70 million budget also shows Warner Bros. commitment to Justice League's Snyder Cut, as that is a ton of money to give to a movie that has already been released. Regardless, fans are no doubt thrilled that the Snyder Cut is getting the money it needs to adequately put together Snyder's vision.
