During a virtual Constantine panel, Keanu Reeves revealed that he has never thought of himself going blonde or taking on a British accent for the title role of the 2005 movie.
The John Wick star participated in a reunion panel with Constantine director Francis Lawrence and producer Akiva Goldsman to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the supernatural film, under the Comic-Con is happening.
The trio were comfy outfit and sitting in front of camera as they were talking like friends to fans.
During the meetup, Keanu Reeves was asked if he has ever thought of changing his original hair color and trying on the British accent to portray the DC Comics character John Constantine created by Alan Moore, 66-year-old.
"No," Keanu replied while shaking his head and smiling gently.
Francis then went on confirming that those ideas weren't taking to be considered.
"We never talked about it," said Francis.
He said that behind the hair and voice, another big change was the switch from the graphic novel character's tan trench coat to a black one for the movie.
"We wanted to do what was sort of right for what we were doing,"
Keanu also shared earlier in the conversation that he didn't feel connected to the character at first. However, he enjoyed the way the movie's script was made and the fact that it based on the London occult detective visually inspired by English singer Sting, 68.
"I was not hesitant, but I'm not English and I'm not blonde, but the character is. So, I had to reconcile that and part of that was, what was the base of the character? What could I bring to the character? Why even do it?," Keanu said.
Keanu Reeves said that he was drawn to the "beautiful character" who he described as a world-weary humanitarian and cynic, along with his an elegant sense of humor.
"I love the film and I love the character," Keanu said.
The film's set took place in Los Angeles after considered by Keanu's deals.
"I love LA and I love filmic LA. I love being on the streets, I like the way the weather changes, I like the early dawn, the deep night, the color of the lights, the people, people on the streets, it's got a good vibe," Keanu revealed.
