Disney cancels red carpet for 'Mulan' in Europe due to COVID-19
Recently, Disney has decided to cancel the red carpet for its movie Mulan press conference in Europe as the disease caused by the new coronavirus is developing unpredictably. The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world has led to major changes in the entertainment industry.
According to THR, Disney has chosen to downscale Mulan's European press conference this Thursday night in London. While the premiere will continue as planned, the red carpet event will be canceled. In an official statement, Disney said: "In an abundance of caution we are downscaling this evening’s premiere of Mulan and will no longer have a media line or red carpet, we will, however, continue to host the premiere screening as a contained inside screening event."
Although Mulan will miss the chance to release on time in China (at least for the time being) due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, recent box office predictions suggest the film is still able to successfully hit theaters in the United States. As the first PG-13 live-action remake made by Disney, Mulan is being in a lot of favorable conditions. However, the initial critical reactions made fans uneasy about the possibility of the work's reception and success.
