Demi Lovato has announced she is engaged to actor Max Ehrich.
Taking to Instagram to share the news on Wednesday evening, the actress and singer, 27, who has been dating Max, 28, since March, shared a series of stunning pictures with her beloved beau alongside a lengthy caption.
Below, everything to know about Lovato's new beau.
Demi Lovato has moved on from model Austin Wilson. About three months after their December 2019 split, the singer began dating former Young and the Restless star Max Ehrich. Their relationship follows an eventful start to Lovato's 2020, with powerhouse performances at the Super Bowl and Grammys. Now, the pair is reportedly quarantining together...and may get engaged soon, according to Us Weekly.
Lovato recently put her love for Ehrich into words on Instagram. "I feel unconditionally loved and accepted by you in a way that I’ve never felt before. I can’t explain it or you.. you’re indescribable, you beautiful, man. Inside and out you are jaw-droppingly gorgeous," she wrote in a recent birthday tribute to her man.
He's an Emmy-nominated former soap actor with a Disney connection.
The 28-year-old actor grew up in Marlboro, New Jersey, before becoming a professional actor. He most famously played the role of Fenmore Baldwin in the hit CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless, for which he was nominated for four Daytime Emmys. He's recently starred in the 2019 Netflix movie Walk. Ride. Rodeo. and the Lifetime series American Princess.
Like Lovato, Ehrich also spent some time in the world of Disney. He appeared in High School Musical 3: Senior Year, as well as a couple episodes of the Zendaya and Bella Throne series, Shake It Up.
Ehrich and Lovato have been dating since March.
The relationship between Ehrich and Lovato is fairly new. E! reported in late March that the couple had been seeing each other "for a few weeks now." But, like many couples across the globe, they've found themselves living together for the time being. "They have been quarantining together at Demi's house and it's going really well," a source told E!.
The source continued, "Max is very into music and health, and he doesn't like to party. He is a good influence on Demi, and they have a lot in common. They have a few mutual friends in common, but Demi has been introducing Max to her closest friends via FaceTime since being quarantined. It's very new but they are definitely hanging out and seeing where it leads. They have spent a lot of time together, but I wouldn't say it's an exclusive relationship yet."
People ran photos of the pair in April that were taken while they shopped for groceries in masks. Their romance comes after Lovato declared herself "single as all hell" in the May 2020 issue of Harper's Bazaar. In the cover story, she also spoke about wanting to settle down with someone in the future, but maintained she has no set type. "People always ask me, ‘What’s your type?’ And I’m like, ‘Have you seen my history?’ There is no type. It is solely off connection. I wish I could say, ‘I only date attractive people.’ But I don’t,” she told the outlet.
He is reportedly planning a post-pandemic proposal.
If a recent Us Weekly report is correct, quarantine has made the two want to permanently commit to each other. "Max plans to propose to Demi after this whole pandemic is resolved and their families wouldn’t be surprised by the proposal," an insider told the outlet in April. "They think they make a great couple."
A source told E! around the same time that not so fast, an engagement isn't happening yet. "The engagement rumors are not true," a source said in a report published on April 16. "It's still early in the relationship and Demi and Max are enjoying just getting to know each other."
In June, Us Weekly maintained the two getting engaged once the quarantine ends could very well still happen. A source said, "They’ve been talking about getting engaged. Her family really likes him. He’ll likely propose within the next couple of months, but when quarantine is over." The insider also said that Ehrich has even picked out a "very sizable" ring for his girlfriend of three months, adding, "Demi has been aware and in on the fact that Max wants to propose and is so excited."
A potential engagement would come months after Lovato's longtime ex Wilmer Valderrama proposed to model Amanda Pacheco in January. E! spoke to a source with Lovato's reaction to Valderrama's news. "She's happy for Wilmer if he's happy," the source explained. "She always wants the best for him in life and is glad he has found love. They will always be friends and have a special place in each other's hearts. But she also realized he wasn't going to be her life partner and she's known that for a while. She moved on from that and has been going in a different direction. She wishes him all the best though."
Lovato and Ehrich profess their love openly on social media.
Almost four months into their romance, both Lovato and Ehrich don't shy away from posting about each other anymore. In her recent birthday tribute to Ehrich on Instagram, Lovato gushed about their relationship.
Her post follows a set of sunset photos Ehrich shared earlier this month, declaring Lovato "the love of my life" in his caption. "Magical weekend in Joshua Tree with the love of my life ? @ddlovato," he captioned his post.
The couple made their relationship Instagram official in May.
Lovato and Ehrich made their romance official on the 'gram in early May. After the couple briefly appeared in the music video for Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande's song "Stuck With U," both of them posted the clip of them dancing to Instagram. "my whole heart. #stuckwithu ?. All proceeds go to the First Responders Children’s Foundation ?," Ehrich wrote on his post. Lovato captioned hers, "Happy to be a part of something so special right now. Like really REALLY happy if you can’t tell... #stuckwithu"
