Back in 2005 she was an unknown face who won over the country to win the fourth season of American Idol. Now, Carrie Underwood is a seven-time Grammy winner and the fifth highest-certified female artist in the U.S. The 37-year-old country singer took a trip down memory lane on the 15th anniversary of her Idol win, thanking fans in a tweet on Monday.
Adding: "It’s been an incredible ride and I couldn’t have made it through without all of you guys!! THANK YOU so much for this sweet video!!"
Her message came in response to a fan who created a video honoring and celebrating the star. "We are so thankful you didn’t have your dad turn the car around! Happy "Idol-versary," the fan wrote.
Carrie Underwood, who's been one of the few Idol winners to find mainstream success, her debut single Inside Your Heaven, released in 2005, debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the only country singer to debut in the top spot.
She has gone on to win seven Grammy awards, 11 Billboard Music Awards and 15 American Music Awards.
Billboard also named her the top female country singer of the last two decades. The blonde beauty, known for her stellar legs and fit figure, has since become a wife and mother-of-two.
The Oklahoma native married former NHL hockey player, Mike Fisher, in 2010, and welcomed four-year-old son Isaiah in 2015, and Jacob, four months, earlier this year.
They met backstage at one of her concerts in 2008 and got engaged the following year.
The loved up duo married in July 2010 in Georgia with guests of over 250 people. Carrie and Mike have been enduring lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic at home with their sons.
American Idol is one of the original vocal competition shows. While the reality series has produced several successful winners such as Kelly Clarkson and Jordin Sparks, among a collection of others, the same can be said for its runner-ups.
Danny Gokey, Tori Kelly, Kelli Pickler, Hollyn, Katherine McPhee, Mandisa, Jasmine Murray, Lauren Alaina and Colton Dixon are just a few of those who went on to score major record and film deals.
