The upcoming Hobbs & Shaw 2 can introduce the next Fast & Furious group by bringing back the supporting characters from the old movies.
Recently, actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson held a live stream on Instagram, during which he answered some of the audience's questions. He has confirmed that the second part of Hobbs & Shaw is currently under development. Although things are still at the stage of finalizing the script, fans can also be glad that they still have a chance to follow the two characters' reunion.
"We are developing now the next film, the next movie, and I'm pretty excited about it. Just gotta figure out the creative right now, and the direction we’re going to go," - he said.
Fans have previously heard some rumors that Hobbs & Shaw will continue to develop uts story, but until now have they had confirmed information. So what The Rock shares on the livestream does not seem too surprising to the fans.
Blockbuster Hobbs & Shaw was released in August 2019 and is also the first spinoff of Fast & Furious. The film excelled with a worldwide gross of $759 million, making it one of Universal's biggest hits last year. What it has done is an extremely solid premise for the studio to be able to develop the story for subsequent projects.
In addition to Hobbs, Deckard and Hattie, the characters of Hobbs & Shaw 2 may include Ryan Reynold as agent Victor Locke, Kevin Hart as Dinkley. Among these people, Locke was first introduced in Hobbs & Shaw and was the one who invited Hobbs on a mission. Although initially his role seems a little less than what is in the comic, the after credits scene shows Locke is extremely dangerous and has broken into a secret facility.
Dinkley's own skills have not been revealed, but he has proven himself to be an invaluable asset. Not long after meeting Hobbs and Deckard in the first film, he used his talent to design flying equipment, saving much travel time for the team. For Madame M, all we really knows about her right now is that she's a professional thief and Deckard's ex-lover. However, it's easy to imagine her becoming an important role of Hobbs & Shaw 2, because Gisele has done the same before.
They are not the only characters who can appear in Hobbs & Shaw 2. A final scene in the first film revealed that Deckard and Hattie had released their criminal mother (Helen Mirren) from prison, which may lead to her appearance in Hobbs & Shaw sequels.
