Lay (EXO) released his fourth solo album ‘Yeon’ (蓮 · LIT) through various music sites such as Flo, Melon, and Genie at 12:00 noon on June 1st (KST).
Six songs of the new album including Western music styles such as hip hop and R&B are combined in Eastern cultural themes such as the title track Yeon, the title track (옥 · Eagle), Soo (水 · H2O ), Rain (飛 · Fly), Young (靈 · Soul). Lay participated in producing the whole song.
In particular, the title track Yeon is a song which contains the time descended from the Chinese play ‘Farewell My Concubine’. The melody of stringed instruments such as lyrics expresses the king’s great ambition and the melody of majestic rhythms has been mirrored with a majestic atmosphere. Lay has also participated in composing and editing.
Ahead of the album’s release at 23h (Korean time), the title song Yeon was released via Youtube Lay and Naver TV SMTOWN.
Lay took model from previous-lives and after-lives as a model for Yeon series. Part 1 contains songs of the M-POP genre combined with Western music styles in traditional Chinese music and trendy music with a modern atmosphere. Part.2 which contains more trendy will come later this year.
