It may sound weird coming from someone who’s stuck inside his home because of the lockdown, but for musician Ebe Dancel, his “home,” he said, is being in front of his fans — performing.
The former Sugarfree frontman joined several local artists this Friday for a campaign which aims to raise funds for medical and health supplies for frontliners against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and building quarantine spaces in several barangays in the metro.Dancel shared that he has not been able to step on a stage for more than two weeks due to gigs being cancelled, but he completely understands the need for such strict measures during this turbulent time.He added that the goal of this online concert series is not to only raise money, but also to give joy in this “uncertain,” “difficult,” “dangerous,” and “very confusing” times.Dancel went on to play a 45-minute set, which included Sugarfree favorites like “Burnout” and “Tulog Na,” as well as some from his solo career, “Hanggang Kailan Kita Mahihintay” and “Lakambini.”His livestream, where more than 30,000 tuned in, followed similar ones from Ryan Cayabyab and Sponge Cola with Karylle.Top Suzara was also part of the concert series, closing the one planned for Friday.Bayanihan Musikahan is the organizer of the fundraiser and you can check the details (and how to donate) by following this link.
