BTS and BLACKPINK Waves Tons Awards At 96.5 TDY Awards, As Usual

96.5 introduced the 2020 TDY Awards back in Jan. 2020. It was advertised as a new, modern award ceremony that is truly 100% fan-voted. It is built for radio and designed for the lovers of the new age of music and pop culture. Fans could vote through numerous avenues.

Fans could vote online at the official 96.5 TDY Awards website and could vote there once every hour. They could also vote through Twitter - one way is through the official Twitter polls for each category or by tweeting at 96.5 TDY Awards with the name of the nominee and the hashtag for the category. They could also vote through Instagram by tagging 96.5 TDY Awards in posts with the name of the nominee and hashtag for the category. If fans were to follow both 96.5 TDY Awards Instagram and Twitter accounts, that would allow them 100 votes with just one tag.

BTS was nominated for seven categories and took home 5 awards. One of their wins was for "Bop of the Year", which they scored with "Dynamite". The boys were up against big names for this award, like "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd, "Cardigan" by Taylor Swift", "Savage" by Megan Thee Stallion, "WAP" by Cardi B and Megan The Stallion, and "Watermelon Sugar" by Harry Styles.

BTS also won "Artist of the Year", beating out powerhouse artists like Ariana Grande, Cardi B, Drake, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and more.

Additionally, BTS won the "Fandom of the Year" award alongside their fans, the ARMY! The group was actually up against BLACKPINK's fandom, BLINKs, for this award, but ended up winning it overall. They were also up against 5 Seconds of Summer's 5SOS Fam, Taylor Swift's Swifties, and Litte Mix's Mixers.

BTS's leader, RM, also bagged himself an individual award - "Biggest Crush". Looks like people can't help but thirst over RM. The idol was up against BLACKPINK's Lisa, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Harry Styles, Shawn Mendes, and more.

Jungkook also won a solo award for himself, snagging "Top Tattoo" for the ink of his hand. As fans know, Jungkook has numerous tattoos on his left hand, including the word "ARMY" spelled out on his knuckles. With such a deep-meaning tattoo, it is no surprise he won the award. Jungkook was up for the award against Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, and more.

BTS was also nominated for "Album of the Year", but lost against Louis Tomlinson with "Walls".

BLACKPINK, on the other hand, won the "Best Music Video" award for their "Ice Cream" music video with Selena Gomez. The bright and sweet music video perfectly suited the summer and solidified BLACKPINK's international reign as the "World's Biggest Girl Group", so it is no surprise they snagged this trophy. The group was up against "Dynamite" by BTS, "Holy" by Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper, "Rain on Me" by Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, and more.

Congratulations to all the winners!
