The list of the most popular baby names in South Korea this year is out, and it looks like some parents may have been inspired by their favorite celebrities. These 10 Korean stars’ names all appeared in the rankings for boys and girls.
1. Seojoon
Seojoon is the 2nd most popular name for Korean baby boys this year, holding its ranking from 2020. One of the most well-known stars named Seojoon is actor Park Seo Joon, who was actually born with the name Park Yong Kyu. From Parasite to Itaewon Class and more, Park Seo Joon has become one of the most famous Korean actors worldwide.
2. Naeun
Naeun is the 13th most popular name for Korean baby girls this year, holding its ranking from 2020. One of the most well-known stars named Naeun is Apink‘s Naeun (full name Son Na Eun), who recently signed an acting contract with YG Entertainment.
3. Eunwoo
Eunwoo is the 5th most popular name for Korean baby boys this year, falling one place since 2020. One of the most well-known stars named Eunwoo is ASTRO‘s Cha Eunwoo, whose real name is actually Lee Dong Min. Cha Eunwoo’s popularity boosted even higher this year after his role

4. Jiwoo
Jiwoo is the 12th most popular name for Korean baby girls this year, falling three places since 2020. One of the most well-known stars named Jiwoo is LOONA‘s Chuu, whose real name is Kim Ji Woo. Chuu has been branching out from singing this year with her eco-focused Chuu Can Do It web series.

Suho is the 9th most popular name for Korean baby boys this year, rising four places since 2020. One of the most well-known stars named Suho is EXO‘s Suho, who was born Kim Jun Myeon. Despite enlisting back in May last year, Suho’s popularity is still going strong.
6. Sia
Sia is the 11th most popular name for Korean baby girls this year, holding its place since 2020. One of the most well-known stars named Sia is OH MY GIRL‘s YooA, whose real name is actually Yoo Si Ah (also spelled Yoo Shi Ah). YooA’s popularity soared even higher after her solo debut with “Bon Voyage” last year.

9. Sunwoo
Sunwoo is the 14th most popular name for Korean baby boys this year, rising three places since 2020. One of the most well-known stars named Sunwoo is THE BOYZ‘s Sunwoo (full named Kim Sun Woo). Earlier this year, Sunwoo released a self-composed song for his birthday.
