Park Yoochun criticized after announcing soon-to-be-released photobook
After almost 1 year since the scandal of using drugs, Park Yoochun made many people surprised when he announced he was preparing to release a new photobook for fans.
On March 20, Park Yoochun announced the release of a new photobook called Someday through his official social networking site. The star revealed that the book will contain photos taken from around the world, and also a private letter that Yoochun sent to fans.
Immediately, the information sparked controversy from the online community. Last summer, Park Yoochun was arrested and investigated, convicted on charges of drug trafficking and drug use. After the trial, the JYJ member was sentenced to 2 years in prison and 10 months in prison for recidivism.
Also during this time, Park Yoochun terminated his contract with the management company. Yoochun once stated, "If the investigation proves that I am guilty of illegal drug use, I will withdraw from the entertainment industry." However, less than a year later, the male singer returned with a fanmeeting in Thailand, with expensive tickets. At that time, Park Yoochun received a lot of criticism from Knetizen who though it was an act of defaming K-Pop image in the public eye.
Continuing to launch the photobook this time, Park Yoochun has not announced the official price but orders will start from March 26 to May 14 via Ticket Bay. In addition, Korean fans buying the photobook will be dialed to attend the male singer's autograph event in June.
Previously, on March 11, a source close to Park Yoochun told a press interview that the singer had no intention of returning to the entertainment industry. Specifically, they said, “Park Yoochun has no thought of coming back. He is still spending time thinking about what has happened. With social media accounts, it's true that Park Yoochun created it himself. Many newspapers have questioned whether he is going back into the entertainment industry, but we hope to clear up those misunderstandings.”
After the release of the photobook was announced, Park Yoochun once again received a hail of hate from netizens. Here are some typical comments:
- Someone who buys this book is just rubbish.
- You mean sharing pictures of a toilet all over the world?
- Hasn't this guy announced his withdrawal from the entertainment industry?
- Where is his fan? No one stood up to protect him?
- I was even more surprised when the industry did not alienate him. It's not like he did all the hard work by himself. Every celebrity has some help.
- What an a**hole!
