In 2020, the K-Pop industry welcomed many new rookie boy groups, but the two most anticipated ones were TREASURE - from YG Entertainment, and ENHYPEN - from Big Hit and CJ ENM's joint company BELIFT:LAB. Because TREASURE debuted earlier, they quickly set many remarkable records for a rookie in 2020. It seemed that these records would be hard to beat, but eventually ENHYPEN's debut changed everything.
On November 30, ENHYPEN officially released their debut album 'BORDER: DAY ONE' with the MV for its title track 'Given-Taken'. Immediately, this song as well as the debut album quickly received positive responses from global fans. Not only that, ENHYPEN also excellently broke two records of TREASURE in 2020.
Previously, TREASURE held the record as the 2020 rookie group with the highest first-day sales for their debut album, with 121,943 copies of 'THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER ONE' sold in the first 24 hours. However, ENHYPEN broke this record by garnering 229,991 copies for 'BORDER: DAY ONE'.
Thus, ENHYPEN has become the rookie group with the highest first-day sales in 2020. The group is also the only rookie group this year that can exceed 200,000 copies sold in the first day with their debut album.
In addition, TREASURE once held the record as the rookie boy group with the most views in the first 24 hours for their debut MV in 2020 - 'BOY' recorded more than 9.1 million views. However, this record was also broken by ENHYPEN asthe MV 'Given-Taken' recorded more than 9.3 million views after 24 hours of its release.
Moreover, ENHYPEN has the second most viewed debut MV in the first 24 hours among boy groups, following TXT, and the 4th most viewed debut MV in the first 24 hours among all groups, following aespa, ITZY and TXT.
Although debuting late, ENHYPEN proved that they are an formidable rookie group of 2020.
