BTS VS. EXO and More: Public Interests Rise if Who Will Win GDA's 'Popularity Award'
There's only a week left before the voting period ends, and there are already numerous groups and artists that are dominating the rankings.
In particular, BTS, EXO, TREASURE, ENHYPEN, and Lim Young-woong are among the top five popularity votes at the Golden Disc Awards.
"35th Golden Disc Awards with Curaprox" has been voting on its official website since Dec. 10. This year, many fans continue to participate in the Golden Disc Awards Popularity Award as the winner will be decided through a 100% vote.
K-pop fans from all over the world, except China, can participate in the vote for the Curaprox Golden Disk Popularity Award. And as of the press, there is a heated battle between the two top male bands in the K-pop scene, BTS and EXO.
BTS VS. EXO: Who Will Win?
Currently, BTS is ranked first with more than 765,740 votes as of 1 p.m. on Dec. 23, Friday. Next to the world-renown group is the top-tier EXO, who is closely chasing the group with 724,484 votes.
However, on a different title and category, EXO was ahead of BTS in the popular vote for the "QQ Music Fans' Choice K-pop Artist Award" where they recorded 67.9 million votes. BTS then tailed at the second spot with about 67.36 million votes, followed by other prominent K-pop artists including NCT, BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN, MAMAMOO, and GOT7.
TREASURE vs. ENHYPEN for "Rookie of the Year"
TREASURE and ENHYPEN who showcased amazing performance this year were nominated for the honor of "Rookie of the Year" and the interest of the public rise as they are both receiving strong votes.
The rookie boy groups earned 355,044 votes and 307,756 votes, respectively, indicating its position as the next global star.
Previously, the winners of the rookie award, Stray Kids (163,244 votes) and TOMORROW X TOGETHER (163,392 votes), also showed strong fandom firepower.
Meanwhile, among girl groups, BLACKPINK stands out with 132,228 votes.
As for the trot category, Lim Young Woong (218,408 votes) and Kim Ho Joong (113,256 votes) confirmed their strong fans' love and support.
On the other hand, the screening targets for the 35th Golden Disc Awards with Curaprox are the songs and records released from November last year to November 2020.
Songs and albums excluded from the evaluation will be included in the screening process, which coincides with the closing period of the previous year's evaluation. Each team has 30 candidates for digital music and album awards. The grand prize will be selected from among the main prize candidates.
The criteria for screening and how to select winners can also be found on the official website, and the popularity voting period is until 11:59 p.m. (Korean time) on December 31.
The "Golden Disc Awards" started in 1986 and has been going on for 35 years. This time, it will be broadcast on JTBC for two days on Jan. 9 and 10 in a non-face-to-face manner without an audience.

BTS, EXO and BLACKPINK Are Most Mentioned K-pop Artists On Twitter India In 2020
Home to music enthusiasts and artists from across the globe, this year Twitter witnessed some of the most interesting conversations on music (album releases, song drops, collaborations, et al), and innovative performances by musicians who moved their programs online. A host of live interactions on the service in the form of Q&As, voice Tweets, among others, kept artists and fans connected, entertained and enthralled.
Here’s a look at the top music artists and conversations that struck a chord with Indians on Twitter this year. Twitter India released the data based on the total number of Retweets by Twitter accounts in India between January 1 to November 15, 2020.
1. Global popstars BTS was the most mentioned K-pop artist of the year in India, owing to the overwhelming support of their Indian fans/ARMY. The Korean heartthrobs’ accomplished massive success this year, winning career-first accolades such as the top spot at the Billboard Hot 100 charts and a Grammy nomination for the record-breaking single 'Dynamite'. With multiple Korean album releases including 'Map Of The Soul: 7' and 'BE (Deluxe Edition)', Japanese album 'Map Of The Soul: 7 - The Journey', a mixtape of Suga 'D-2', multiple solo and collab releases by the members of the group, BTS dominated the conversations on Twitter.
2. Popular stars EXO remained in conversations for many developments - from the band’s members Suho (Self Portrait), Chen (Hello), Baekhyun (Delight), Chanyeol and Sehun (1 Billion Views), Kai [KAI (开)] announcing the solo acts this year. Their song 'Obsession' was received very well among Indian audiences, making them the second most mentioned K-pop artist of the year. While Xiumin completed his mandatory military enlistment and returned safely, Suho and Chen enlisted earlier this year.
3. BLACKPINK made their Twitter debut this year with their official account for the members and became the third most mentioned K-pop act in India. The band’s collaboration with Selena Gomez for the song 'Ice Cream' had everyone on Twitter talking, as did their Netflix documentary Blackpink: Light Up the Sky which gave fans a closer glimpse into their lives. The group released their highly awaited debut album titled 'The Album' with 'Lovesick Girls' as the lead track after two pre-singles 'How You Like That' and 'Ice Cream'.
