According to her agency YG Entertainment, Rosé's first solo single album '-R-' has surpassed 400,000 preorders as of March 8, only 4 days after it was available for pre-ordering. This is the highest record for a female solo artist in South Korea.
This figure is based on the total number of preorders from all over the world. Not only in South Korea, but also in China, Southeast Asia, the U.S., Japan, and Europe, requests for '-R-' albums have been huge. The number of preorders is expected to increase further as there are still several remaining schedules for the release of '-R-'. There is increasing interest in the record that Rosé will write through '-R-' ahead of her solo debut.
Rosé's global influence and powerful fandom seem to have influenced her newly set preorder record. In fact, BLACKPINK dominates the world with the largest number of YouTube subscribers (58.1 million).
Earlier, BLACKPINK also wrote a new history for K-Pop girl groups in terms of album sales. Their first full-length album 'THE ALBUM', released last year, surpassed 1.25 million cumulative sales following the announcement of 1 million preorders, making them the first girl group to be listed on the Gaon Chart Million Certification List.
Rosé, who played an important role as the main vocalist in building BLACKPINK's musical color, has excellent singing skills, conceptual digestion, and emotional voice. She is proving her global popularity. The teaser video 'ROSÉ - COMING SOON', which was released in January, is about to excee 50 million views even although it is only 33 seconds long. There are more than 650,000 comments.
This is a realization of Rose's extraordinary ripple effect and public expectations about her solo activities. The world's spotlight is on Rosé's achievement with '-R-'.
Rosé's '-R-' physical album will be released in a total of four forms, and began pre-sale on March 4. Rose raised the value of her collection by melting retro sensibility, cinematic mood, and analog concepts into the design of the album. The physical album will be released on March 16.
