According to multiple officials in the film industry on February 5, Rain has been cast as the main role in the new drama 'Ghost Doctor', which is scheduled to air in the second half of the year. It is expected to be a unique combination of ghost material and the medical genre. As a result, Rain will make a comeback to the small screen about a year and a half after the MBC's drama 'Welcome 2 Life', which ended in 2019.
'The Ghost Doctor' is directed by Boo Sung Chul, producer of SBS' 'Jang Ok Jung, Living by Love', 'The Heirs', 'Mask' and 'Our Gap Soon', and written by Kim Eun Hee of tvN's 'Live Up to Your Name'.
Last year, Rain swept the music charts with Yoo Jae Suk and Lee Hyo Ri by forming the trio SSAK3. He recently released a duet song 'Switch To Me' with Park Jin Young, which swept the top spot in music broadcasting among idol groups, signaling his still strong presence as a singer.
Rain, who made his debut as a solo singer with the album 'Bad Guy' in 2002, has appeared in various dramas including KBS2's 'Sang Doo! Let's Go to School' (2003), 'Full House' (2004), SBS' 'My Lovely Girl' (2014), 'Come Back Mister' (2016), JTBC's 'Sketch' (2018), and many other films.
'The Ghost Doctor', which is expected to let viewers see Rain's performance once again, is scheduled to air in the second half of this year, and the arrangement is undecided.
