Hyun Bin continues to show his massive influence that extends even outside South Korea as he lands a major endorsement in the Philippines.
The actor has recently been announced as the newest face of telecommunications company Smart, which will be enlisting his endearing charms for their newest Giga campaign.
Proving his unparalleled popularity worldwide, Hyun Bin takes home the honour of being the first South Korean superstar tapped by the brand.
“The ‘Hyun Bin Phenomenon’ is pretty much due to digital technology—Filipinos have developed the craze because they are able to stream his shows, hear the buzz about him online, share their excitement with their friends, and even get to interact with him through social media,” said Jane Basas, the SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart.
“This makes him a perfect ambassador for Smart as we empower Filipinos with technological solutions made easy so they can enrich their daily life and pursue their passions,” she added.
Sharing his love for his Filipino fans, the actor himself had also shared his thoughts about his newest project.
“Filipinos are some of the warmest fans in the world, and I am thankful to Smart for giving me a way to reach out to everyone in the Philippines. Indeed, Smart has brought us closer than ever,” Hyun Bin said.
Way before soaring to great heights once again with Crash Landing On You this year, the actor first won the hearts of Filipinos in 2005. Hyun Bin dazzled everyone with his charms when a local TV network aired a Tagalog-dubbed version of his romantic comedy-drama 'My Name Is Kim Sam Soon'.
Greeting his fans for the first time through the brand, Hyun Bin starred in a television commercial from Smart where he was seen riding a sports car.
Zooming past the city streets, the scenario references the blazing speeds by which Filipinos can enjoy their daily dose of entertainment through Smart’s LTE and Giga Promo services.
The TVC then strongly finished with Hyun Bin delivering Smart’s new tagline in Tagalog, “Simple. Smart Ako.”
“’Simple. Smart Ako’ sums up our company’s approach all this time to make amazing technology available, and more importantly, simple for every Filipino,” said Alfredo S. Panlilio, Smart President and CEO and PLDT Chief Revenue Officer.
