Singer Francisco Martin to be part of "American Idol" Top 20
Filipino-American singer Francisco Martin is having the time of his life now that he got into the Top 20 of the current season of “American Idol.”
The artists making up the Top 20 were announced in a two-part episode this week, although it was actually taped a few weeks ago.
After the reveal, 19-year-old Martin took to Instagram to briefly describe what he’s been feeling about this whole new experience in his life.
“Dazed and beyond grateful. Thank you American Idol for giving this anxious boy a chance,” he wrote.
Martin also individually thanked judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and host Ryan Seacrest on Twitter, who all lauded his performance during the showcase round in Hawaii.
During the show’s Sunday episode (Monday morning in Manila), Martin sang the new Harry Styles hit “Falling” for the showcase round.
Compared with his last performance, Martin owned the stage this time, showing no signs of nervousness, while playing the guitar and singing his heart out.
After his song, the judges were up on their feet, with Bryan even jumping up and down in his seat. Martin’s performance even prompted Perry to liken him to Bruno Mars.
