'Double Patty', the first movie of Irene, a member of girl group Red Velvet, will still be released at the end of this year without a schedule change.
"'Double Patty', which is currently in the second half of its production after finishing all filming, will be released at the end of this year as scheduled," an official from KT (the film distributor) said on October 23. "Regardless of the recent issues surrounding Irene, the opening schedule will proceed. However, it may change depending on the situation at the theaters," he said.
KT also denied a rumor claiming that the production team had bad experiences with Irene. "The post on social media (of the @xoxodummi account) is not from our employees," they said, "We did check with the production company and the crew members, and as a result, we confirmed that the person who wrote the article was not an employee of our film crew."
Earlier, following Irene's incident, an account posted an article on social media, saying, "I recently filmed a movie with a famous celebrity. I've met a lot of celebrities before, but this person is beyond my imagination."
This article did not specify Irene and 'Double Patty', but it sparked a controversy about Irene, which then went viral.
KT added, "That person was not our staff and we don't even know if that person has ever been to the 'Double Patty' set. We tried to confirm whether that person has ever worked as a make-up assistant for the actors and we received no response from the person who wrote this post. We are trying to get in touch with the person who is spreading this untrue rumor."
'Double Patty' is the first screen challenge for Irene since her debut. It is the first original commercial film produced by KT, directed by Baek Seung Hwan, who won the 27th Korea Culture and Entertainment Awards for his film 'Like the First Cup' last year.
However, Irene has been embroiled in a controversy, starting with the post about the revelation of an "entertainer's overuse of power" by a 15-year stylist and editor on October 20. In response, SM Entertainment, Red Velvet's agency, announced that it had been checking facts since the morning of October 22 and apologized in the end.

Although KT said they will proceed with the original schedule of 'Double Patty', it is expected that the movie will face difficulties in promoting due to the ongoing controversy surrounding the lead actress, Irene.
