BTS V has made another record yet again and this time it’s on Instagram! He hit the record for being the first Korean male celebrity to reach 5 million likes on an Instagram photo.
This photo was posted to BTS’s official Instagram page and revealed his new hair color for their new comeback. The photo was uploaded on August 11 and reached 5 M likes in just about 47 hours.
The number of comments on the photo reached over 150,000, making it the second most commented photo after their BTS Map of the Soul group concept photo.
Just after the release of the photo, it topped Japan’s Twitter ranking site Twipple and also ranked first for the ‘Korean Artist Fan Activity Index’ out of all the Korean celebrities combined.
Although BTS does not run individual accounts and only has one official Instagram account, V was the first out the group to receive 3 M likes on his individual photo last year.
Not only V's picture was loved by fans, but a long list of singers, models, artists, and influencers were also seen to like his picture.
After the release of the teaser photos for Dynamite, KIM TAEHYUNG, TAES & TAEHYUNGS became a worldwide trending topic on twitter.
Congratulations, Kim Taehyung!
Previously, V broke BTS’s own record with ‘Sweet Night’
Just days after BTS broke Adele’s record, V broke BTS’s record. He officially became the artist to have the song with the most iTunes’ No. 1s in history when “Sweet Night” reached No. 1 on iTunes in 105 countries. He has since extended the record after achieving 109 No. 1s on iTunes worldwide.
“Sweet Night” was released in March 2020 when it was featured in the Itaewon Class OST. A few days before its release, V and RM held a VLIVE livestream for ARMY. During the VLIVE, V told fans that he had been working on songwriting and one of the songs he wrote would be released soon.
The song V was referencing ended up being “Sweet Night.” While V told fans he did not want to worry about the song’s chart rankings, the song quickly shot up on music charts around the world.
PSY released “Gangnam Style” in 2012, and the song topped iTunes charts in 86 countries. When “Sweet Night” reached No. 1 on iTunes charts in 87 countries, V beat PSY’s previous record with “Gangnam Style” and became the Korean soloist with the most iTunes No. 1s.
Finally, BTS will be releasing their third round of teaser photos on August 16 before releasing their new single Dynamite on August 21.
