To address the matter, JYPE released a brief statement through Newsen. The agency explained that the length of the contracts of Chansung, Jun.K, Nichkhun, Wooyoung and Junho are different from each other.

In the case of 2PM Chansung, his exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment is set to end in January 2022.

As of December 2021, there are five remaining 2PM members under JYP Entertainment. Member Taecyeon is no longer managed by the agency as he left in 2018 and signed with 51K in the same year. Even though Ok Taecyeon departed from JYPE, he is still part of the boy group.

In June this year, 2PM made their first group comeback in four years since their hiatus. They released their seventh studio album "MUST." The album's 10 songs feature elements of pop and jazz alongside the group's signature electronic sound.

With "MUST," 2PM broke their first-week sales record. The full album recorded over 79,000 copies - more than tripling their previous record of 21,447 copies set by their 2016 album "Gentlemen's Game."

Besides their domestic comeback, the JYP boy group also released a new Japanese EP, titled "With Me Again." It sold 48,075 copies in just the first week of release.

2PM Talks about the Title Track 'Make It' and How 'MUST' Differs from Their Previous Concepts

2PM's "MUST" consists of 10 songs, seven of which were worked on by members Jun.K, Wooyoung and Taecyeon. Wooyoung created both the lyrics and melody of the title track "Make It."

Wooyoung said that "Make It" originates from two questions that he wants to ask and "must" ask, which are, "If now is the time for 2PM's album, what should we do?" and "If love comes to me again, what should I say?"

When asked what makes "MUST" different from their previous concepts, Ok Taecyeon said that "MUST" is the group's first album after the members entered their 30s. Meanwhile, their back catalog, which was released in their 20s, gave off a stronger feeling of "the passionate vigor of youth."

He added that "MUST" portrays an atmosphere that the 2PM members from the past can show more sides of themselves by not limiting themselves to simply being sexy. He concluded, "I think there's a different sexiness that we can only show in our 30s.
