BTS Break A Tie With BLACKPINK For The Most Hits On Billboard’s Global Chart

The septet has charted 11 wins on the tally, one more than their closest competitor, BLACKPINK

BTS’s “Butter” is officially a worldwide smash, as it debuts on this week’s Billboard Global 200 chart at No. 1. It’s certainly impressive that the band has returned to the highest rung on the ranking of the most-consumed tracks on the planet, but simply by seeing their latest track find its way to the 200-rung list at all, the seven-member vocal act has broken out of a tie with another beloved group and established themselves as the most successful band from their home country on that roster, at least for now.

With another hit on the Billboard Global 200 to their credit, BTS now stands as the South Korean musical act with the most placements on the weekly list. The septet has charted 11 wins on the tally, one more than their closest competitor, BLACKPINK. The two K-pop favorites were on the same level until this week, but now BTS has passed the girl group. The two musical acts are the only ones from the Asian nation to land double-digit appearances on the Billboard Global 200.

“Butter” also helps BTS further their lead as the musical act with the most No. 1s on the Billboard Global 200, as they have now pushed four tracks to the summit in less than a full year (as the chart itself isn’t even one year old yet). The tune is their sixth top 10 on the ranking, which ties them with Justin Bieber for the most placements inside the highest tier among all artists.

So far, only a few other musical acts from South Korea have managed to reach the Billboard Global 200 with more than one tune, while quite a few have hit the list just once. Blackpink member Rosé is the only South Korean solo star to send a pair of cuts to the tally, while fellow groups ITZY and Aespa have also landed on the chart twice.
