A series of live-action TV series based on "Resident Evil" is being developed with a horror level comparable to the original game.
Yahoo! Movie reports that Netflix is about to make an 8-episode TV series based on the content of the famous horror game Resident Evil.
Released in 1996, Resident Evil video game has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide, and became one of the typical works of the post-apocalyptic survival game genre.
In 2016, the movie franchise adapted from the game title with the lead role Alice played by actress Milla Jovovich came to an end with part 6 titled Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
Writer of the new series is Andrew Dabb - one of the producers of the popular series Supernatural. In an interview with Deadline about the new project, Dabb said Resident Evil "is his favorite game".
TV version content will take place in two parallel lines of time. The first timeline follows sisters Jade and Billie Wesker as they move to New Raccoon City. The two teenagers discover the city, like their father, is hiding a dark secret.
The second timeline will reveal the future when Jade, now 30 years old, struggles to survive on Earth rife with T-virus infected humans and animals.
Dabb revealed Resident Evil game fans will recognize many "old friends" in the TV version. He also said that the series will please fans of the original with the horror level expressed in this live-action.
Besides the television series on Netflix, plans to re-launch a cinematic version of Resident Evil are also in development with Johannes Roberts of 47 Meters Down on the director's seat. Resident Evil's 2002-2016 adaptation series has brought the producer more than $1.2 billion from the global box office.
