In a recent interview, Charlize Theron admitted that she was hurt when knowing that her role will be handle over for a younger actress in the new prequel of the blockbuster movie in 2015, Mad Max: Fury Road.
Starring alongside Tom Hardy, who played the Max Rockatansky, Charlize Theron played the role of war captain Imperator Furiosa in the post-apocalyptic thriller.
After the huge success of the movie, Mad Max is on the way to have a prequel and Charlize is reported not to reprise her role.
According to director George Miller, he would want to use de-aging technology on Charlize if the actress stars in the prequel. However, he decided not to use it and recast for a brand new actress for the role of Furiosa.
In responding to Miller's decision, Charlize said: "Listen, I fully respect George… he’s a master and I wish him nothing but the best."
"Yeah, it’s a little heartbreaking for sure. I really love that character and I’m so grateful that I had a small part in creating her. She will forever be someone I think of and reflect on fondly.", she continued.
She also expressed her expectations to be in the prequel, as she shared: "Obviously, I would love to see that story continue and if he feels like he has to go about it this way, then I trust him in that manner."
The actress's thoughts come after a report claimed that the Jodie Comer will be set to appear in the prequel. Jodie is known for her act as a psychopathic Russian assassin in BBC America spy thriller series Killing Eve.
Well, maybe the director's decision could be understandable because of the new plots for the spin-off movie of Mad Max. Jodie would play the young Imperator Furiosa and also be the main character of the movie, instead of Max as before.
In 2019, there was a confirm saying that Mad Max would have two new movies. One movie will focus on Furiosa's life and journey while the other telling the story of Mad Max, or Max Rockatansky, played by Tom Hardy in the original movie.
