David Bowie biopic Stardust is set to receive the red carpet treatment online following the postponement of New York’s Tribeca Film Festival, where it had been set to premiere.

The eagerly-anticipated movie was originally scheduled to be one of the highlights at Tribeca next week (April 13, 2020), but the live event fell victim to the coronavirus lockdown, and instead, organizers have decided to stream what they can via the Internet.

One of the events heading online is the Stardust premiere and screening, which will be invite-only for potential buyers and members of the press on Wednesday (April 15, 2020).

Just like an in-person premiere, the digital launch, arranged by sales officials at Film Constellation, will feature a live video introduction from writer/director Gabriel Range, with appearances from actor Johnny Flynn, who plays a young Bowie onscreen, and co-stars Marc Maron and Jena Malone, reports Deadline.com.

Stardust is a highly-anticipated film in the marketplace,” said Fabien Westerhoff, CEO of Film Constellation.

We’ve reached out to our buyers and are excited to offer them this unique opportunity to engage with Gabriel’s film in a timely, safe and controlled environment.

Our first digital market premiere was an overwhelming experiment, with several hundred buyers tuning in simultaneously within 24 hours across five continents. We can’t wait to take this novel buyer experience to the next level with a live component to it.
