In his recent protests with his fellows in Santa Monica, Cole Sprouse was under arrest while expressing racial discrimination but according to him, “It’ not about me" - he said.
On May 31, Cole Sprouse, who stars in Disney’s series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody as Cody and CW's Riverdale as Jughead, shared on his Instagram that he was with his friends to a “peaceful protest" in Santa Monica and get arrested. According to him, police officers worked to corral demonstrators and regain control among mass rioting, destruction, and looting.
Cole was part of the group of protesters who were gathered on Broadway in downtown Santa Monica, holding signs condemning George Floyd’s death while chanting “I can’t breathe.”
He wrote in his post, “A group of peaceful protesters, myself included, were arrested yesterday in Santa Monica. So before the voracious horde of media sensationalism decides to somehow turn it about me, there’s a clear need to speak about the circumstances: Black Lives Matter.”
Before his protest that day, there were hundreds of people gathered for a peaceful protest about a mile away, marching and holding moments of silence to honor black people who got killed by police.
To his followers, the Riverdale star urged to “contemplate what it means to stand as an ally. I hope others in my position do as well.” Finally, Cole finished his statement by telling his followers that he will “speak no more on the subject.” Instead, the actor chose to later provide a link to “comprehensive document[s] for donations and support.” But before he shared resources to his followers, the actor reiterated to all of his fans that he is “not the subject of the movement,” and is “uninterested in drawing attention away from the leaders of the [Black Lives Matter] movement.”
Cole Sprouse is one of numerous numbers of celebrities who join the protests to support and oppose the racial discrimination and brutality of the police. Along with him, stars like Arianna Grande, Halsey, Justin Bieber, Beyonce, Millie Bobby Brown and more others are either attending the protest or use their social platforms to express their thoughts, feelings as well as their frustration where they can at least make a difference to fans and other people.
