Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has decided to temporarily put down his guitar and pick up a new hobby, which is making his own beer and ales.
The 29-year-old chart topping star is said to be making his own brand of beer to supply to his the pub he built for himself on his £3.7 million estate in Suffolk while temporarily retired from music making.
According to reports, Ed has ordered a batch of make-your-own craft beer kits to start brewing up some ales to serve in his make-shift pub, The Lancaster Lock.
The Castle on the Hill singer built his pub in 2017 and named if after his wife, Cherry Lancaster Seaborn, who he tied-the-knot with in January 2018.
A source said: “Ed loves his beer - especially his real ales and craft beers. He’s had a few kits delivered and has been having fun making his own drinks. They aren’t too bad but he doesn’t think any of the major breweries have got anything to worry about just yet.”
Ed’s pub has been the subject of controversy – with locals finding the structure something of an eyesore in the English countryside.
Last year, the pop star won a battle against his local council after he erected two huge signs for his pub without planning permission. Ed was forced to seek approval for the signs after the council received a complained.
However, the local government body decided the signs ultimately caused “no harm” while approving a retrospective application for their creation.
Ed has also got into trouble with locals and the council over other constructions on his land including a sauna and a huge, kidney shaped pond.
Away from his beer making and construction work, however, the star is best known for his music. Ed is believed to have amassed a £200 million fortune since the release of his debut album in 2001.
His latest album, No 6 Collaborations Project, was released in July last year and topped the charts in the UK and USA.
