Netflix is currently flooded with action blockbusters like Mission: Impossible, Extraction and the 3 IP Man movies, but the names below also possess excellent fighting scenes, though they are not as well known.
The Night Comes For Us (2018)
If you think you already know all the martial arts that humans can create in a scene, The Night Comes For Us will probably surprise you. The work of director Timo Tjhajanto is a collection of bloody, violent attacks on the background of a war between criminal organizations.
It all started when the notorious assassin Ito of the Triple Emperor spared a girl in his massacre. Since then, other assassination organizations have turned Ito into a new target and sent a host of other assassins to hunt him.
Those who have watched the two parts of the great action film 'The Raid' will recognize many familiar faces appearing in 'The Night Coms For Us' such as Joe Taslim, Julie Estelle, Zack Lee and of course, Iko Uwais.
Avengement (2019)
If you're already familiar with the movie 'Boyka', you'll see a slightly different Scott Adkins in 'Avengement'. He plays the prisoner Cain Burgess who spent seven years in prison for pleading guilty to a real killer. He burned the will of revenge every day in prison in the pictures of each stone and iron of the house. One day, Cain managed to defeat the two guards and escaped.
His only goal is not to be free, but to find the lair of the people who pushed him into prison, revenge one by one until the last breath. The film will have a slightly confusing opening between the reality and the past but the second half is an excellent performance with the flawless fingers of Scott Adkins. And this time he also used weapons so there would be more eye-catching finishes than in 'Boyka'.
Wheelman (2017)
Frank Grillo is an actor who meets all the criteria to become a star in the martial arts film industry such as fierce appearance, great martial arts skills, strong expression, energetic vibe… Unfortunately, the scripts he selected were not that great. However, Wheelman is one of the best movies Frank has ever starred and he should choose such attractive scenarios to develop his career.
Three years after being imprisoned, the driver nicknamed Wheelman had to work for stunted criminals to pay off his debt. When he took on the task of driving a bank robbery, he accepted the man who hired him to betray Wheelman in order to take all the money from the bandits. Now, all the bandits think Wheelman was the one who stole money and chased him with his 13-year-old daughter Katie and ex-wife Jessica.
With the budget of a B-movie, Wheelman was successfully completed with small, narrow scenes revolving around the car and the chase. Without powerful or explosive punches, Wheelman still proves its charisma and potential not inferior to action blockbusters like 'Transporter' or 'Fast and Furious'.
