NHS nurse Hayley Pitman and Harvey Skelton will never forget the gift Ellie Goulding herself brought to them during their wedding.
The medical worker - who has been a Theatre Practitioner at Bristol Hospital for six years - and her fiancé were due to tie the knot last week with a stunning ceremony at Manor By The Lake in Cheltenham but have been forced to postpone the celebration due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead, the pair and their closest family members took part in a special online wedding ceremony on Saturday which included a surprise live performance from Ellie.
After they kissed and were met with cheers from guests who were tuning into the video chat I Need Your Love singer Ellie, 33, shocked the loved-up pair when she appeared on the video chat with a guitar in tow.
The famous singer - who herself got married in September 2019 to Caspar Joplin - began by sending her congratulations to the smitten couple and then sang Love Me Like You Do - which would’ve been the couple’s first dance song.
Absolutely taken by the performance the pair beamed with happiness and danced in front of their webcam as the award-winning artist belted out the hit.
The once in a lifetime gesture was organised by wedding directory company For Better For Worse to raise the couple's spirits during this difficult time as Hayley works on the frontline to help battle COVID-19.
Bride Hayley reflected after: "Despite not being able to be with our friends and family in person, being thrown a virtual wedding by the For Better For Worse team was such a magical experience, and the appearance by one of our favourite singers Ellie Goulding was just the icing on the cake, I couldn’t believe it!"
"The memories of this will certainly keep us both going until we can celebrate properly later on in the year.”
Explaining how the team at For Better For Worse selected the Skelton's Tammy Madge, revealed: "It was really difficult to see so many couples having to postpone their weddings after spending months or even years saving and planning for their special day.
To help bring a smile back to a special couple’s face, we took it upon ourselves to organise a virtual wedding. With such close ties to the NHS, Hayley and Harvey were the perfect choice for us, and of course Ellie Goulding surprising the couple made it so much more special and beautifully emotional even if we were all sat behind our screens!"
Adding that the wedding company are hoping to raise funds for the health services, Tammy continued: "We hope that people will get on-board by donating to our fundraiser page, to show how appreciated our amazing NHS is, especially during this unprecedented time.”
