tvN's Entertainment show "You Quiz on the Block" was a "K-Special" program to talk about Korean culture that has made people around the world enthusiastic.
EXO Baekhyun appeared as the representative of K-pop. Yoo Jae Suk said, "I didn't expect to see Baekhyun in this program” and Cho Seho added, "EXO cannot be left out of K-pop and Baekhyun cannot be left out."
EXO was the first K-pop singer to perform at a fountain show in Dubai, one of the world's top three fountain shows. Baekhyun said, "I was proud of myself. And I had to put my shoulder around the member next to me".
Asked by Yoo Jae Suk whether there is a difference in global fans' reactions, the singer said, "America and Europe dance together. It feels like a party. When I see the reaction, I make gestures for no reason. Besides, the cheering is very loud in Asia. Even though I'm not feeling well, I feel like I've become a superhero when I hear the cheers of my fans”, he added.
The young singer also shared his thoughts about the feelings when standing on stage, "When I look back, I think I've lived a very intense life. It has been 9 years since my debut. There was clearly a difficult time. It was good to debut as a trainee soon, but I didn't think I was that ready. So there was a fear of the stage," he confessed honestly.
"I lost confidence sometimes, but I couldn't show my weak side in front of other members and fans, so I tried hard to overcome the slump in my own way. I think the members knew that I had such a hard time”.
"I think I'm really lucky to meet the members. Even if we meet for the first time in a long time, we can play like friends and talk comfortably about the future that young people looking at their 30s can share. I always miss all my members. It would be more fun if I was with the members today”, he said.
The MCs congratulated Baekhyun on the success of his 2nd solo mini album, 'Delight'. But regarding his long-awaited solo comeback, he revealed, "It was an album where I could express my own color. But in truth, I was under a lot of pressure. There wasn't anyone I could rely on, and I had to take full responsibility for everything so I was heavily stressed. I even got gastroenteritis (stomach flu). So I texted my members a lot. I realized how much they meant to me."
Baekhyun expressed his gratitude toward his fellow EXO members. "I'm sure that leader Suho and the rest of the members all knew when I was having a hard time. When I seemed down, they came beside me and tried to make me laugh. I was so fortunate to have met them. They're so comfortable even when we haven't seen one another in a long time, just like the closest family or friends. We can talk about so many personal things, like how we'll be turning thirty soon and our futures. They are people I miss at every moment," he said affectionately.
He also said about his fans, "They've become like friends. In the old days, it was still a long time ago. But now we look like friends. It feels like we're growing up together. I thought that if I put a distance, fans would be disappointed”.
