On May 7, BTS’s V, RM, and J-Hope held a live broadcast on YouTube as part of their #StayConnected initiative and as part of their continuous progress updates on their self-produced upcoming album.
Last week, Jimin revealed that he had taken on the role of music project manager (PM). In the May 7 broadcast, V shared that he was taking on the role of visual project manager.
He said, “In order to show ARMY a cool image, I will be in charge of the album jacket, concept, and styling. I’ve asked RM and J-Hope, who like clothes and like wearing diverse styles, to help me with styling.”
V, RM, and J-Hope then spent the next 40 minutes discussing ideas for the album jacket concept. J-Hope said, “Up until now, we’ve tried a variety of styles for our album jacket photos. I think we’ll all relate to this, but I want to try something comfortable this time.”
V said, “Since all the members are involved in the production process, I think that there will be a lot of ideas about the concept. We threw around a lot of ideas when we had our meeting with the visual director. The members are always suggesting ideas, like when we had our jacket photo shoot for ‘IDOL.’ I think that since the members are directly involved this time, it will have a more natural vibe and ARMY will like it.”
He added, “When we went on vacation, we just took the camera and took photos as they naturally came around. I really liked that image. Instead of putting a lot of focus on the production or set-up, I want us to take photos with the feeling that we’re on vacation together.”
RM said, “All around the world, the space that we call ‘our house’ and ‘our room’ has become very important. I think that it would be nice if each member decorated their room with their own props and chose their own clothes. Each member would come up with their own theme.”
J-Hope said, “We always talk among ourselves about how much we want to perform on stage. In these difficult times, it might be fun to have a [home party] in which we wear casual clothes in the living room and jump around and play with the [karaoke] microphone.”
The members continued on this theme for some time, suggesting ideas like five or six small rooms decorated in different styles, filming on different days to get a different atmosphere, filming as if they were ordinary non-celebrities instead of making complex set-ups like in “IDOL” and “Map of the Soul: 7,” whether to film inside or outside, and more.
